We use only the finest ingredients, like fresh, wholesome milk, fruits, pure maple syrup, honey, real vanilla, coffee and cocoa, and never any preservatives or artificial sweeteners.
We love our cows
|We treat our cows well. And in return they produce
delicious, wholesome milk for our yogurt. The cows that make milk for our yogurts have adequate space, an appropriate diet and housing, and they’re properly handled and cared for. We make sure of it! How? By working with Validus--a third-party animal welfare auditor. Validus standards are reviewed annually by the renowned animal behaviorist and CSU Professor of Animal Science Temple Grandin, PhD.
Small batches gently crafted
We pasteurize our milk slowly and gently at low temperatures, and we carefully craft our yogurts one small batch at a time. The result is richer, creamier, tastier yogurt.
No artificial growth hormones
All the milk we use to make our yogurts is produced without the use of artificial growth hormones (rBST, rBGH). Experts have shown that rBST can cause cow health problems (infections, lameness), which could increase antibiotic treatment for cows and lead to new strains of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
We also think the widespread use of rBST could put many of our nation's small family farms out of business. And that's something we don't want to see.
Live active cultures
We put four live active cultures into our yogurt. This includes the two cultures all yogurts contain—S. thermophilus and L. bulgaricus—plus two more: L. acidophilus and Bifidus. These natural wonders promote good digestion and keep bad bacteria in check. They also help to give our yogurt its much-loved mild flavor and creamy texture.
All our yogurts are certified gluten-free by the Gluten-Free Certification Organization, and they're the first yogurts to earn this distinction. Those with gluten intolerance (celiac disease) can enjoy our yogurts without worry.
Everything we make is certified kosher by the Orthodox Union. This tells you our yogurt contains no meat-derived ingredients (like gelatin or rennet) and no shellfish-derived ingredients. Handy info not just for Jewish folks who keep kosher, but for vegetarians, people with shellfish allergies or anyone who considers kosher certification a sign of high quality.
*Our Nonfat Greek yogurt is not yet American Humane Certified and is made from milk produced outside of California.
